Lafayette, Ind., Aug. 2—Mamie Stares, despondent because she could not secure work, mixed morphine with her beer Tuesday night in a saloon in Chicago and died in her chair a few minutes later. She lived formerly in this city, where her parents moved in good society. Mamie was wayward and went to Chicago four years ago. Her mother, worrying over the fate of her girl, became insane. Her father met with business reverses and lost his money.
